630m QRP WSPR overnight
11 stations spotted my 10mW ERP overnight. No great DX but I think one was a new station in Germany.

630m QRP WSPR (Wednesday)
My 10mW ERP from the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground was turned on at about 1645z. So far, 7 stations have spotted me this evening..

472kHz WSPR overnight
Average!
In all, my 10mW ERP from the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground was spotted by 5 stations with the best being a spot by DL/PA0EHG (493km). On RX only 7 stations spotted with best DX again LA2XPA (1310km).

472kHz WSPR RX overnight
Quite a decent night with 17 different stations spotted with best DX EA7HPM (1726km). All were received on the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground.

Back on MF WSPR
This evening, I decided to try 630m (472kHz) WSPR again (10mW ERP from the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground). Best DX, so far, on TX is PA3ABK (306km).
UPDATE 2218z: So far 14 unique stations spotted on 472kHz WSPR RX and 11 spots of my 10mW ERP on TX.

Daytime 472kHz
For about 20 minutes now, I have been on 472kHz WSPR RX in the daylight. So far just several spots of G8GPO (36km) and one of PA3ABK (306km).
UPDATE 1944z: LA2XPA (1340km) is the best DX spotted so far. 8 uniques so far today.

472kHz WSPR last night
EA5DOM (1525km) was spotted 18 times last night using the earth-electrode antenna, even though the direction was not optimised. On TX, with less than 10mW ERP WSPR. I was spotted by 9 unique stations (all G). Overall, I think the compromise vertical is slightly better than the earth-electrode "antenna" on 472kHz, although the earth-electrode "antenna" is surprisingly effective.
On 472kHz it was hard to see a noise peak around breakfast time with the earth-electrode "antenna". I guess it is back to the compromise vertical on 472kHz tonight to see if this is the same. My theory is this is an E-field antenna, whereas the earth-electrode "antenna" is more like an H-field antenna.
A few years ago the external noise on 472kHz was very low (less than S2). Nowadays it is S7.

Back on 474.2kHz - yet again
I am having another go with the 15m earth-electrode antenna and 5mW ERP on 474.2kHz WSPR this evening. Unless UK and near continent activity picks up, it could be another fairly fruitless evening.
Certainly it is a lot easier getting DX spots on 10m.
UPDATE 1810z: Not long ago M0PPP was a reasonable signal at -23dB S/N on 474.2kHz WSPR. He is in the Barnsley, Yorks area (IO93gm) and should be "off the side" of my earth-loop. Midway through his TX burst there was a slight break and frequency shift too.
UPDATE 1940z: My only reports so far are from G6AVK (78km) again. I am copying F5WK (364km).

More 474.2kHz WSPR RX
Since late yesterday I have been WSPRing on 474.2kHz RX. Plenty of Europeans being copied including IQ2CJ, F5WK, DK7FC and LA1TN as well as EI, PA and G stations. When I am fitter I shall return to 474.2kHz WSPR TX but at the moment I don't have the energy levels to set everything up.
