Return to sailing ships? - NOT amateur radio

In a bid to reduce carbon emissions, we may see a return to sailing ships.

I guess some sort of hybrid propulsion is likely with use of the wind in open seas. The advantages of wind would be less pollution and lower transport costs.

Windy - NOT amateur radio

Yesterday we had strong winds. Many of the trees in our garden lost plenty of leaves. The next milestone will be looking for the first buds to appear in the spring.

Windy - NOT amateur radio

At the moment here in East Anglia it is windy, but dry. I know there is rain coming later. Although our brown lawns have recovered somewhat, we still need rain. It was interesting seeing how the flowers perked up with rainwater rather than tap water.

Wind and rain - NOT amateur radio

A few days ago it was very hot and sunny. Today is very different with strong winds, showers and dark clouds. The garden needs it, but I prefer warmer (not hot) settled sunny days.

Storm Ciara - NOT amateur radio

At the moment, we have strong wind and rain as a result of Storm Ciara.  At this time of year, this is unusual. Strong winds are more common in October.

Gusts of wind up to 90mph are battering some parts of the UK. It is not as bad here, but I reckon the gusts are up to 60mph. At the moment trees and the like are OK.

Corsican wind? - NOT amateur radio

Years ago we spent a couple of great holidays on Corsica.

My wife is trying to do a quiz in the newspaper and is stuck on a wind in north east Corsica with the second letter "i" and the last letter "t". She is adamant these letters are right. I tried Googling to no avail. I thought I knew this, but obviously I don't.

Any thoughts?

The quiz was in yesterday's Daily Telegraph which we got free with our shopping.  I try to vary the paper and sometimes get The Guardian or The Times. I only get them as they cost us nothing - well some will (rightly) argue we pay through Waitrose's high prices. Aldi is certainly less expensive, but our local store is some way away.
